Dryers for the building of Síldarvinnslan’s new HPP Protein Plant in Neskaupsstaður were recently supplied, but arrived in Iceland this week, according to HPP Solutions, the project’s supervisor.

The dryers were created entirely by HPP Solutions but are manufactured in Romania. They are part of the company’s so-called HPP Protein Plant, which is based on Icelandic engineering and innovation in the high-tech industry and has been developed by Héðinn over the last 15 years.

HPP Protein Plant is offered in both onboard and onshore configurations.

In March this year, a contract was signed for the installation of a 380 ton HPP Protein Plant (fishmeal plant) in Neskaupstaður. The project is estimated to total 1.7 billion ISK.

According to Héðinn, the HPP Protein Plant “typically requires 30% less area, 30% fewer components, and 30% less energy than conventional fishmeal plants.”

The first edition of these HPP Protein Plant was installed onboard Rammi hf., Sólbergið ÓF-1.

It is stated that “There are 21 major components in a conventional fishmeal production, and energy is placed in eight locations. The HPP Protein Plant is composed of seven major components, with energy deployed in two locations”.

The HPP Protein Plants have a processing capacity of between 10 and 400 tons per day, depending on their size.”

Six billion ISK

The HPP Protein Plant factory has grown in popularity in recent years, and Héðinn has sold them to fisheries and land processing companies in the United States, Germany, the Faroe Islands, England, Finland, France, and Norway.

Sales to foreign nations total 6 billion ISK.

Four HPP Protein Plants have been sold in Iceland, one of which is installed onboard the most modern fishing vessel in the North Atlantic, Ilivileq, which is operated by Arctic Prime Fisheries ,a Brim affiliate.
